My ST3 of less than 6 months old and less than 4000 miles (Ocean Blue not Performance Blue) has a problem. When I go to start the car after a period of rest, it will turn over for ages trying to kick in before it eventually starts up, however if I turn the key to start it, turn it off straight away, then back on again (if you know what I mean Posted July 4, 2016. A bad fuel pump, ignition problems, clogged fuel filter, bad mass airflow sensor, and bad crank/camshaft sensors are just a few of the problems that can cause an engine to not start. 5. Poor Shifts. Any major failure of the 20 year old Mazda L derived engine is extremely rare, 100,000’s if not millions produced without any issues whatsoever. You get the rare failure, probably on modified cars with possibly questionable treatment and The 2000 rpm vibration is a distinct vibration. When acceleration, it’s more of a hesitation side to side shaking that is only there under load. If I cruise at 2000 there is no vibration. •if I put the car in 1st gear and accelerate. It vibrates. If I keep going faster (4000-5000 rpm, there’s no shaking. The rear passenger side footwell is somewhat wet and now smelly. I can't identify where its coming from though, it seems to be predominant after driving in the wet (not consciously noticed it when its rained hard and the car has been idle) as the carpet looks like its been rained on. Its not at the sides but more in the centre of the carpet too. This seems to happening maybe 50% of the time I try to start the car. Usually taking the key out and trying again is enough to fix it, but that might take several goes. Its a 2008 Mk2.5 model. I had a search of the forum for the problem and for most others with ignition problems the key wont turn at all. The steering lock isn't on either. For a while now my ST shakes/vibrates when the turbo kicks in. I haven't noticed any loss of power just the shaking. The garage reckon the turbo needs replacing, quoted £1100! I find it hard to believe that a fault with the turbo would cause the car to shake without losing power. Dark Andy. Budding Enthusiast. 143. Name: Andy. Ford Model: Focus Mk4. Ford Year: 2018.
