My RC 390 and my 690 Duke both say the same thing in the owner's manual: Run the engine to normal temperature (or just ride it!), then turn off and wait 1 minute with the bike bolt upright to check the oil level in the glass. It works for me. Ah, no. Look, oil is assessed by standards, and the repsol stuff exceeds the API and JASO T904 marks of the motorex 10W60. The weight difference is marginal and if a 690 blows up because it's running 10W50, it's not because of the oil, it's the engine and engineering. The motorcycle is powered by a 690cc engine, and features a six-speed transmission. The bike itself only weighs 148.5 kg, so the weight to power ratio makes it an incredibly efficient machine. Thanks very much! So the key engine related items I pick up from that are: Oil and filter ever 600 miles. Valve clearance every 6k miles. Air filter change every 6k. Thanks for your help! keith-iow. This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. KTM is not the only company by any means that specifies 10w-60 oil. As is true with any motor, and especially this one, being a big piston with high compression, the majority of the wear happens before the engine reaches operating temp, so the thinner the oil at startup the better. In other words, a 0w oil is best for any engine in the world at 116 posts 路 Joined 2017. #1 路 Jul 13, 2017. Injecting the same, let's say 8000 碌s, at 0,2 bar MAP compared to 0,9 bar MAP makes 19% difference in the amount of fuel injected. 7392 posts 路 Joined 2016. #15 路 Jun 25, 2019. 2010_RC8 said: your not wrong. Probably change out the small top filter that's before the pump every 10,000km or less. Maybe a track bike every couple years. A bad one has to strain the pump, trying to suck the volume and keep the pressure at high revs.
